Dropout stems from a complex, gradual process of decision-making in which the demands and benefits of university attendance are weighed. Early identification of at-risk students benefits from quick and large-scale screening instruments. This study presents the dimensionality of a screening instrument for students at risk of dropping out of Higher Education, integrating three scales: Academic Exhaustion, Satisfaction with Education and Dropout Intention. A sample of 611 first-year university students was considered in the statistical analysis. The results demonstrate evidence of internal and external validity as well as the reliability of the screening instrument scores. The differences in correlation coefficients between these three scales and the students’ intentions of completing the course and completing their education at their university, evaluated at two different points during the first semester, suggest that dropout analysis requires collecting information throughout the process of adjustment to higher education. 相似文献

There is a growing interest in educational innovation in universities at a global level, as a tool designed to create strategic changes in order to improve quality. This study evaluates the global improvement in universities as a result of educational innovation governance, as a pillar of the so-called world-class research universities and as a tool for continuous improvement in higher education. The methodology has been designed by different educational innovation groups from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad de Cádiz, and the International Project Management Association Spanish Board, and includes an analysis of 67 universities from 20 countries. The study is based on 32 universities in Spain, as well as 35 other international universities that carry out educational innovation activity. The results show that universities that have a more mature educational innovation governance in place, both in Spain as well as in other countries, are higher in the ranking of universities (Webometrics). These universities demonstrate a tendency to work on educational innovation projects, which are contributing to strategic changes that will permanently revitalise teaching, whilst also improving research and its links to society. 相似文献

This paper provides a methodological framework to measure and analyze educational resource allocation within and across systems and ascertain potential equity implications. The proposed approach employs an outputs-driven method to provide a snapshot of the equitable distribution of key educational resources available in relation to student populations that are most in need. Our approach standardizes educational resources into three broad dimensions including teacher quality, school physical environment, and school instructional environment while contrasting the allocation of these resources between low- and high-needs schools. We implement this approach using real world data from Brazil to demonstrate its adaptability to the context and available data while still maintaining a consistent framework across applications. 相似文献
